Mark Denver, Vintage And Industrial

IMG_6339

Mark Denver and Jennifer Edwards are the owners of the vintage-industrial shop, Mark Denver, painted with the most fabulous lush, lime green, it sits modestly on Brunswick Street, Fitzroy. This lovely couple, only just celebrating their 20th year anniversary, met during science class at university. Although, science was not the only thing they had in common.; they both shared the love for painting, and collected oddities and objects of art, to which they filled and decorated their house with when they finally built a home together. With their collections overflowing in every room of the house, even the garage, one Christmas they decided to host a party, whilst retelling the comedic event, they laughed saying ‘we had to make space in our house, because we could barely fit the guests!”. It brought Mark and Jennifer closer, to what they now own and love, a business that reflects their passion for collection. Mark Denver is an amazing looking shop, selling all original pieces, statues, taxidermy, and science equipment. Featured in the store for purchase at the moment is a 1940’s operating table, among other extraordinary things Mark talked me through, such as a full sized chariot with horse, a three metre crocodile, a giraffe, various Victorian era science models, and 1940’s and 50’s carnival rides that once resided in his house of hoard.  Many stylists shop at their store for various pieces, and objects are hired out for movies, advertisements and theatre. The shop isn’t very big, so one has to search amongst the masses, which is perfect for a hunter like myself. Passionate is an understatement to describe this couples love for each and every object, with historical and scientific knowledge, the shop is an extension of themselves – that’s cool.
