BF. What made you chose to become an architect ?
SC. I firstly wanted to be an animal vet, but got too queasy at the sight of blood and guts, and l tend to get quite emotionally involved. I finally chose architecture as it involves design, maths and problem solving.
BF. Has home and building design been something you have always been passionate about ?
SC. l travelled to Europe a lot when l was younger, and loved the architecture and design there. Definitely growing up with my mum who has really interesting design taste influenced me a lot.
BF. What has influenced your design style for your home ?
SC. Looking around my home, there are a lot of artworks given (and lent) to me from my family, a lot of found objects, things l’ve made (l love making things), furniture l’ve bought whilst travelling. l’ve definitely been influenced by my mum who has a knack for putting things together that you wouldn’t typically expect – Aboriginal art with Japanese furniture, etc.
BF. Name three of your favourite architects.
SC. I love Japanese architecture, Japan is my next holiday destination and l can’t wait !! My three favourite architects at the moment are: Shigeru Ban, SANAA and Carlo Scarpa.
